Finales are fabulous, especially when they're filled with positive change and success. With those prerequisites, you can't beat the fifth season of the Biggest Loser, which concluded Tuesday night with a few twists including a home-viewer-vote for finalists and 250-thousand-dollar payout to the winner dropping the highest percentage of weight. Contestant after contestant stepped onto the monster-sized scale during the 2-hour live finale. But only ONE would take home the glory, and for the first-time in show history, a woman won the grand prize. Ali whittled her bod down to 1-hundred-22-pounds, losing over 1-hundred-10-pounds in all. Right behind her with a 45-percent weightloss went to favorite former-football player Roger. One other contestant took home 100-grand for losing the most weight at home after being kicked off the show at elimination. The high-rated show is already casting for its next season.
There are rumors -- straight from the Wall Street Journal -- that C-B-S might drop current evening news anchor Katie Couric before her contract is up. She was placed as the first female anchor on the show just under 2-years ago, taking over for Dan Rather. W-S-J says that the CBS Evening News program is falling under new leadership with a new presidential inauguration next year and that may be when the episode is over for Couric. The ex-Today show host reportedly signed a 15-million-dollar annual contract through the year 20-11.
And one ex-talkshow host may be heading over to the Today show on N-B-C. It seems t-v personality Kathie Lee Gifford is one of several people being considered by the news department for the position of co-host in the 4th hour of the program. She left morning television just 8-years ago, in order to spend more time with her family. And along the same daytime talk-show lines, ex-panelist from the View - Lisa Ling -recently returned to the show as a guest host. She brings with her a special report from National Geographic about the underage prostitution crisis here in the U-S.
